The program

The Master in Visual Media offers an innovative combination of intensive, high-level training in the conceptual, creative, and managerial aspects of visual and multimedia communication. Whether you want to start your own company, become a consultant, or work within an existing organization, the program will help you develop the skills, creativity, and entrepreneurial mindset you will need to compete and thrive as a 21st century visual media professional.

This program aims to train multi-faceted professionals who possess the skills to conceptualize, create and manage all kinds of creative visual media projects from start to finish. Students will learn about the latest trends in visual media and put them into practice by working with images in multiple formats including video, photography and design, as well as multimedia, hybrid, and mixed media.

The program responds to an emerging need for communication professionals who possess strong foundations in creative content conceptualization and production, audiovisual storytelling, critical thinking, new media formats, strategic communication, and business management. Students will learn indispensable skills for working in visual media environments: understanding the communication and business needs of clients and developing and managing projects with an integrated vision of every step in the process from start to finish.

IE´s School of Communication faculty is comprised of an international group of skilled instructors who are not just experts in their field. Structure

The Master in Visual Media is an intensive, ten-month program divided into three periods that run from October to December, January to March and April to July. Students will be attending all class sessions at our IE campus in Madrid, with a number of MediaLab sessions at our campus in Segovia.

The program comprises 3 core modules and a final project covering the following subjects:

The Master in Visual Media welcomes graduates with backgrounds in different disciplines such as Design, Communication, Business, Advertising, Marketing, Fine Arts, Art History, Media, Humanities, Philosophy, etc.; students who are interested in developing their creative, intellectual, and managerial abilities to work in visual media creation and management.





Your Program

Students on the Master program are a multi-cultural and talented group of people whose diversity adds considerable momentum to the learning process.

The program develops skills in audiovisual content creation, narrative design, and multimedia storytelling, and allows students to acquire knowledge about contemporary communication, the cultural industries environment, new business models, and visual product management.

Using multimedia, hybrid and mixed formats based on video, photography, design, sound, performance and texts, the program will train professionals who can work independently as well as for companies and institutions -media companies, cultural institutions, advertising agencies, museums, music companies, universities, publishing houses, architecture studios, and all kind of companies or associations that need to communicate effectively in the new visual and digital world.

We seek dynamic, motivated, creative candidates with excellent academic and professional backgrounds who also offer the kind of interpersonal skills that will benefit the program.

Admission is granted on a rolling basis and although early application is recommended, there is no deadline for applications for a particular intake. Admission is valid for two years.

Admissions Process

Our rigorous selection process is geared towards selecting those candidates that demonstrate the highest potential. The process is divided into three steps:

  • Submission of application form and documents
  • Personal Interview
  • Final decision

Requirements

To be considered for admission, a candidate must submit the following with thier application:

  • Evidence of completion of a Bachelor degree (or equivalent) from an accredited university.
  • One-page CV
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Official university transcripts (certified translation into English or Spanish)
  • English language certificate for non-native English speakers (Cambridge Proficiency, TOEFL, IELTS, EOI). A certificate is not required if you completed an undergraduate degree in English
  • Photocopy of current passport
  • One passport-size photo
  • Duly completed application form, including all supporting documents
  • Optional submission of portfolio sample work
  • Application fee of 125€ (non-refundable and payable by credit card or cash)

Course Fees

Candidates pay a non-refundable application fee of 125€ to cover administrative costs.

The tuition fees for the Master in Visual Media for the October 2013 intake total €19,200, including a €1,200 contribution to the IE Foundation.

Admission is valid for two years, allowing the successful applicant up to two years to reserve a place on an intake, thus allowing students to plan their experience. To reserve a place on the Master in Visual Media, intake students are required to make a deposit of €4,000 + the contribution to the IE Foundation (€1,200).
