The Master in Visual Media Communication aims to bridge the gap between creative visual design and business management in the communication field.

The Master in Visual Media Communication will train thoughtful and innovative visual and multimedia content creators, producers, and managers. This is a program designed to equip students with practical and theoretical knowledge of visual and multimedia communication for the new digital media era and provide them with a unique combination of creative, critical and managerial abilities.

By the end of the program, students will be skilled practitioners of visual media communication with solid theoretical foundations and managerial know-how. They will possess in-depth knowledge about designing, producing and managing visual and multimedia creative projects and the skills and abilities needed to flourish in their professional careers. The Faculty

Structure

The Master in Visual Media Communication is an intensive, ten-month program divided into three periods that run from October to December, January to March and April to July. Students will be attending all course content units at our IE campus in Madrid, with a number of MediaLab sessions at our campus in Segovia.

The program comprises 3 core units and a final project which will cover the following subjects:

The Master in Visual Media Communication welcomes graduates with backgrounds from different disciplines such as Communication, Fine Arts, Art History, Media, Marketing, Advertising, Humanities, Philosophy, Design, Business, etc.; students who are interested in developing their creative, intellectual, and managerial abilities to work in visual media communication for the new digital media.

The program develops skills in audiovisual content creation, innovative narrative design, multimedia storytelling, and allows students to acquire knowledge about contemporary communication, the cultural industries environment, new business models, and visual product management. Using multimedia, hybrid and mixed formats based on video, photography, design, sound, performance, and texts, the program will train professionals who can work independently as well as for companies and institutions--media companies, cultural institutions, advertising agencies, museums, music companies, universities, publishing houses, architecture studios, and all kind of companies or associations that need to communicate in the new visual and digital world.

How to Apply

We seek dynamic, motivated, creative candidates with excellent academic and professional backgrounds who also offer the kind of interpersonal skills that will benefit the program.

Admission is granted on a rolling basis and although early application is recommended, there is no deadline for applications for a particular intake. Admission is valid for two years.


Admissions Process

Our rigorous selection process is geared towards selecting those candidates that demonstrate the highest potential. The process is divided into three steps:

  • Submission of application form an documents
  • Personal Interview
  • Final decision

Requirements

To be considered for admission, a candidate must have successfully completed the following prior to submission:

  • Evidence of completion of a Bachelor degree (or equivalent) from an accredited university.
  • One-page CV
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Official university transcripts (certified translation into English or Spanish)
  • English language certificate for non-native English speakers (Cambridge Proficiency, TOEFL, IELTS, EOI). A certificate is not required if you completed an undergraduate degree in English
  • Photocopy of current passport
  • One passport-size photo
  • Duly completed application form, including all supporting documents
  • Optional submission of portfolio sample work
  • Application fee 120€ (non-refundable and payable by credit card or cash)

Fees & Funding

Candidates pay a non-refundable application fee of 120€ to cover administrative costs.

The tuition fees for the Master in Visual Media Communication for the October 2012 intake total 19,200€, including a 1,200€ contribution to the IE Foundation.

Admission is valid for two years, allowing the successful applicant up to two years to reserve a place on an intake, thus allowing students to plan their experience. To reserve a place on the Master in Visual Media Communication, intake students are required to make a deposit of 4.000€ + the contribution to the IE Foundation(1,200€).
